19TH ANNUAL SOUTH FLORIDA TATTOO EXPO
A LETTER FROM THE HOSTS
OF THE 19TH ANNUAL
SOUTH FLORIDA TATTOO EXPO
We raised $43,000 for Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital!!! Thanks to all our Artists & Vendors, all the bands who donated their time, Joe Amato & Skin Mechanics Suspension for the awesome suspension shows, Morgan LaRue & The Shimmy Shake Revue, performing the burlesque shows, all of our celebrity guests, and of course to all our Staff & Security, without them we couldn't pull this off every year!
But an extra special thanks must go out to everyone who attended and supported the event. You too are a major part of making this year such a great success and helping us raise $43,000 for Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation. Hope to see everyone again next year at the Coral Springs Marriott at Heron Bay – August 7-9, 2015 for our 20th Anniversary!! We will be sure to have lots of new surprises, as well as the old favorites, to keep everyone entertained!
‘Til next year,

The 19th Annual South Florida Tattoo Expo, sponsored by Cool Cat Tattoo, was held again this year at the Coral Springs Marriot. It was all 'abuzz' and had a 'whole lotta shakin goin on'. A lot of people were just 'hangin' out too.
100% of all proceeds are to benefit the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. The weather held out this year with no rain, which meant all events went on as scheduled outside. It got a tad warm on Sunday, but after all, it is South Florida in August…
Yeah, ok there were tattoos happening, with over fifty businesses represented. The special appearances by some of the visiting tattoo artists included TJ HAL - SPIKE TV INK MASTER, MARK MATHEWS - SPIKE TV INK MASTER, AL FLICTION - SPIKE TV INK MASTER, JAYVO SCOTT - SEASON 5 - SPIKE TV INK MASTER RIVALS, J MICHAEL TAYLOR - CMT TATTOO TITANS, and JEREMY HULETT -
CMT TATTOO TITANS. It doesn't get any better than that!!!!
Six different bands played over the three day weekend event. Sound was provided by Rob and his assistant, of Back Alley Studios, who does an awesome job year after year.
There were quite a few special guests, such as VANY VICIOUS & ALEX CUPCAKEE, JILL DAHNE-WORLD RENOWNED PSYCHIC, PHILADELPHIA EDDIE, THE GATORBOYS, And the GOLD COAST ROLLER GIRLS.
The live burlesque shows, provided by Morgan LaRue and the Shimmy Shake Revue, were just phenomenal this year. I only wished that I didn't have a major accident with the video camera on Saturday, which caused the loss of over 8 hours of video, including the fabulous Pin Up Contest, numerous bands, the Burlesque show, and Suspension show. I hope the Friday video coverage makes up for some of it, and of course, there are numerous photos of the Pin Up contest.
The Skin Mechanics Suspension show was also 'off the hook'. I have to mention Kapowski Kelly as she performed one of her finest shows ever. The show also featured members of Disgraceland Hook Squad Hooked Suspension Team again this year. Thanks to Joe Amato for everything!!!
I can't afford to not mention the numerous vendors as their purchase of space also contributes to the success of this event. An open car and truck show was held Sunday. This event has been dubbed South Florida’s "Most Unique Summer Car Show". Sponsored by Cruisers of South Florida, all proceeds of this event also benefit Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Every year it is like family getting together for a reunion. People I have not seen in a year.
The unsung heroes of this event are The Wings Of Gold MC. They have put on this event since its inception, donating their time, their members, and their resources to make this an extremely popular event across the United States, and even attended by those from other countries.
19 Years ago I received a call from Phantom Dave Nichols at Paisano Publications and he asked me if I could cover the First International South Florida Tattoo Expo for Tattoo Savage Magazine... 19 years later I'm still here in South Florida covering it, although I missed a year or two these past few years.
As with most Annual Expos and Conventions of this type friends and family are made for life. It was great to see everyone I hadn't seen in a few years. This is where I could list a bunch of names but I won't. I'll let all the pictures speak for themselves. There is genuinely love in my heart for all whom my arms embraced and or anyone by whom my lens was graced.
This is one of those types of shows that is NOT for everyone. If slinging ink, fetish shows, burlesque shows, piercing suspension acts and other ungodly acts of debauchery easily offend you, than you don't want any part of this party. If however these types of things tickle your fancy or at least your curiosity than yes by all means this party is exactly what you're looking for.
This is one event that year after year never gets old for me. On a personal note it's the relationships developed over a generation as well as all the money raised year after year for the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation. How Ironic that an event that excludes children's presence offers children such wonderful presents.
One thing is for sure, God willing, I'll be back next year for the big 20!!!
