BIKE TIME 2014 Muskegon, Michigan
It’s BIKE TIME In Muskegon, Michigan
Once a year, the otherwise non-assuming city of historic Muskegon, Michigan roars to life with the sound of thunder once again letting local residents knows it’s Bike Time in Muskegon!!! For bikers it’s four days of non-stop rock and ride until you drop!
This year the event ran Thursday through Sunday July 17-20, 2014. Downtown Muskegon did it right with “motorcycles only” traffic! Steel Horse Alley stretched for ten long blocks along Western Avenue in the heart of town. Spectators gathered in mass to gawk at the sea of two wheel wonder rolling and parked up and down the strip.
Bike Time has all the staples of any major motorcycling event including the crowds! From motorcycle vendors to beer tents and contests to free live entertainment this event did not disappoint the multitudes. Top musicians like Lee Rocker of the Stray Cats and .38 Special among many others rocked the people for four glorious straight days!
On Sunday riders participated in the Patriot Ride, a police-escorted, non-stop, scenic ride of the area with over two hundred other riders. The ride lasted approximately an hour and a half and began and ended at Hot Rod Harley-Davidson. Suggested $10 per person ride donations went to Every Women’s Place and the Veterans Association.
Bike Time was started by the local Harley Dealer in 2007 and the annual event now draws an average of over 65,000 bikes and 100,000 people to the lake-shore community of Muskegon on the third weekend in July. Luckily, you don’t have to wait until next year to enjoy Bike Time. Fortunately you can enjoy all the great photos here taken by Dee Saville who went to Muskegon on behalf of The Crossroads!
