LOVE RIDE 31
with THE HARLEY TWINS
Story & Photos by Jade & Justine
Hey everyone, this is Jade and Justine, The Harley Twins sharing our adventures from our home base on the west coast here in Los Angeles, California. For those of you who may not know us, my sister and I have been a big part of the motorcycle industry since 2001 when we worked for Harley-Davidson in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The bikers gave us our nickname “The Harley Twins” and for 7 years we both traveled all over the country hosting the bike shows at the major rallies with our bike builder friends who are well known from the Biker Build Off shows. The bikers, one percenters and clubs have taught us that it is not just a lifestyle, it is a way of life and they have become our extended family and will always own a huge place in our hearts. When the economy slowed down the events, her and I moved to Los Angeles from Florida and now do production work for the entertainment industry. We are grateful for all the cool people we get to meet.
We recently had the pleasure to attend L.A.’s 31st Annual Love Ride on October 25th, joining the bikers to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Our day started with an early breakfast at the Los Feliz Café where we met our loved ones and good friends such as actor Lorenzo Llamas, who was one of their celebrity riders. From there the ride procession gathered at Glendale Harley-Davidson, which is owned by the very nice Oliver Shokouh. If you haven’t been there before be sure to check them out when you make your trip to the west coast. It’s a great dealership!
The bikes lined up on the street and were filled with people happy to be apart of this charity including the local Boozefighters who have celebrity members in their club such as Robert Patrick best known for his role on Terminator. What a cool man! Other actors from the popular show, Sons Of Anarchy, were there as well, like Emilio Rivera, President of the Mayans with his beautiful wife Yadi Rivera and Michael Veach. The Grand Marshall, the one and only Jay Leno led all.
The riders took off around 9am and a little later arrived at Castaic Lake, a beautifully spacious area that was filled with nice volunteers, vendors and a huge stage. Robby Krieger from the doors and Buckcherry rocked the stage! My sister and I walked around and were sure to grab our Love Ride t-shirt souvenirs. We walked the field and made sure to stop and shake hands with the great men of our military who had a super awesome tank parked by the stage. They even let us climb up it to take a picture! Her and I then hung out backstage with our celebrity friends and ate some food.
Other notable people in attendance of course were Willie G. Davidson with his wife Nancy and Sugar Bear the well known custom bike builder. Most importantly, it made our day to meet the sweet kids that are affected by Muscular Dystrophy who were happy to be at the Love Ride. After all, it was every single person there that day that took their time to be there and make a difference by donating for the charity making the 31st Annual Love Ride what it is all about. Living the dream, doing what you love and giving back to others. That my friends is the biker family way.
Be sure to catch us on our next adventure soon.
