PEACE GIRL’S RIDE!!!
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
We’ve all heard the term “Wild Child”… It’s a term born in the ‘60s. Well Jody, a.k.a. “Peace Girl” is living it and riding it! At the tender young age of seventeen, she went on her first poker run and she’s still got the charm to prove it. Her second ride was to the famed, Woodstock Music Festival in upstate New York. (Yes the first one.) Obviously the event influenced her for life! She still has the charm from that event as well.
A self described hippie, Jody knew from the time she was young that one day she would ride the bike of her dreams. She admittedly at the time didn’t know exactly what kind of bike that would be but she knew how she would customize it just the same. Tie-Dye and Peace would reign supreme as the theme in her dream.
After owning and riding several bikes through the years; Jody found, fell in love with and customized the 2001 Harley-Davidson Fatboy you see pictured here. Although at first glance her ride seems bike show ready, make no mistake about it, this is Jody’s daily rider! She takes good care of her personal ride; she rides her daily and she rides her far. There’s nothing that compares to that feeling you get when you personalize your own motorcycle, except riding it! That feeling just washes everything else away and leaves it in the breeze!
Slowly over her lifetime she’s been collecting charms and mementos from the rides she takes and the people she meets along the way. Today her life’s collection of charms ride close with her as they adorn her custom tank pouch made by Leathers by Barb and Gus. One of the charms was given to her back in 1993 by a fireman from Kansas City that she’d met at the Sturgis Rally. They still keep in touch to this day like so many other friends represented by the charms on her tank pouch.
She’s old school all the way and it’s why she flies her Harley-Davidson air cleaner upside down. Her mirrors fly upside down also but that just so she can see better and has no other significance she states with a chuckle.
Jody says she feels blessed to be able to ride out on her bike whenever she feels like it! Jody is also blessed to own and operate her own bike shop called, “On The Road Again” located in Oakland Park, Florida. If you’re ever in the neighborhood, look her up and say hello. Ask her about the time she went to Woodstock and see if she remembers… but be sure to tell her you heard about her at The Crossroads!!!
