WINTERING With Red Sonja
So the holidays are here then gone. That can only mean one thing in the north. Old Man Winter has reared his ugly head.
Bikes have been put away for a long winters nap. A lot of folks pay for storage for their bikes for the winter. Others prefer to keep them home and close to the heart. The bike shops and auto shops are running low or running out of tank stabilizers. Did you remember to change your oil? Covers are hiding our rides neatly nestled in the garage.
Some die-hards will ride, at least until the first snow fall that accumulates. Fewer will ride beyond that. Funny being here in the mid west, people refuse to admit they are getting cold and still drive around in their convertibles and on their bikes while wearing shorts. This Cali girl puts it all away once the weather gets below 50... brrrrr.
Every once in a while anymore I see a random bike on the road when the temp gets above 50! For me that’s still so cold. Some of these guys ride any time they can. Even with salt on the roads! That can't be good for your paint. It's almost like these mid westerners wearing shorts in temperatures when most of us are bundled in scarves and gloves, just aren’t ready to give up the summer. I usually suggest they move somewhere warmer! Of course you get to ride all year down south! I guess your blood thickens up when you live up here long enough. I'm still waiting for that to happen for me.
So with that said...I hope you had a Merry Christmas… Happy Holidays and have a Happy New Year and all that kind of stuff. Stay warm and if you can still ride during the winter wherever you are, take on a few miles for me while my Ezmerelda sits under the covers waiting to come out and play in the spring.
